This conference looked at the Forced Marriages Act (1 Year on) and how this has made a difference. This conference also showed a play on Forced Marriages and Honour Based Violence- This play was a huge success! The story show cased a dynamic relationship between a brother called Sunny and his sister called Mya. To know more about this Play and book for your own conference please log onto http://www.spanielworks.co.uk/ Feedback from this year's conference was excellent and a number of people whom attended would be taking something back to their organisation that they can use.H.O.P.E would like to thank Arts Council England for supporting the Play and Leicestershire Constabulary for sponsoring the event.

H.O.P.E reflects over 2009
H.O.P.E has achieved a tremendous amount in 2009, a DVD was produced on rasing awareness around Forced Marriages which has been used by a number of organizations around the UK. H.O.P.E was selected as a finalist for the Prince’s Trust Community Impact Award and managed to win this award in November 2009. The conference H.O.P.E organized with Leicestershire constabulary on 25.11.09 attracted over 130 delegates and we managed to secure high profile speakers such as Minister Prentice, Anne-Marie Hutchinson, Dr Aisha Gill, Lynne Townley plus many more. However the biggest success for me is that we have targeted more professionals this year on the issues of domestic abuse and Forced Marriages compared to 2007 and 2008. This means more and more victims will be supported appropriately and have the right response. In 2010 H.O.P.E’s vision is to continue to train, develop and work with agencies across the UK on Domestic Abuse!
