Honour Crimes, Cultural Killings or just Murder? Come join the debate Conference……. 25.11.08

This conference was a huge success with over 200 guests attending and showing their support. This conference focussed on key not speakers as well as hearing from survivors.

Minister Bridget Prentice launched the Forced Marriage Act (2007)at this conference with the help of the Forced Marriage Unit and will be discussed what measures the government are putting in place to help victims of Domestic Violence. On top of the current criminal protection act, the Forced Marriage Act will provide civil remedies to protect victims or potential victims of forced marriage. The conference main aim was to increase delegates awareness of the issues around forced marriages and honour based violence and was ran during domestic violence week in Leicester. Below is some feedback we received back from the conference. The next Annual H.O.P.E Conference will take place on Wednesday 25th November 2009 so please watch this space!

Can i personally thank all the young people that took part, all the speakers and delegates for attending…..
